FAQs
What is pediatric restorative dentistry used for?
Pediatric restorative care addresses teeth affected by cavities, injuries, or developmental concerns. Treatments help restore function, protect developing teeth, and prevent further complications.
Will my child’s tooth look natural after restoration?
We use tooth-coloured materials designed to blend with natural enamel. We aim to ensure restorations are strong, functional, and visually seamless within your child’s smile.
How do I know which treatment is right for my child?
After a gentle exam, we’ll walk you through your child’s options, outlining the benefits and considerations for each. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and make an informed decision.
What Is Restorative Dentistry?
Restorative dentistry includes treatments designed to repair or replace parts of children’s teeth affected by cavities, injury, or early dental wear. These treatments support healthy development, speech, and chewing, while also helping prevent infections and misalignment as your child grows.
Depending on the need, restorative procedures for children often involve fillings, crowns, or space maintainers. Our approach is friendly and calming, helping young patients feel at ease.
Why Timely Pediatric Restoration Matters
Even minor issues in baby or permanent teeth can lead to discomfort, nutritional challenges, or long-term dental problems. Early treatment helps prevent infections, maintain space for future teeth, and promote self-confidence.
We restore children’s teeth to:
- Support healthy eating and speech
- Reduce pain or sensitivity
- Preserve baby teeth until they naturally fall out
- Guide proper alignment for developing teeth
- Encourage positive dental experiences
We take time to explain treatment in a kid-friendly way and work at your child’s pace to minimize stress.
Pediatric Restorative Services We Offer
Dr. Phoebe provides a full range of pediatric restorative options customized to each child’s needs.
Tooth-Coloured Fillings
For small cavities or minor damage, we remove the decay and use a tooth-coloured composite resin to rebuild the tooth. The filling blends naturally and can usually be completed in a single visit.
Pediatric Dental Crowns
If a primary tooth is badly decayed or fractured, we may place a stainless steel or tooth-coloured crown. These protect the tooth until it’s ready to fall out naturally and help maintain proper chewing function.
Space Maintainers
If a baby tooth is lost too early, we can place a space maintainer to keep the area open for the incoming permanent tooth. This helps guide proper alignment and avoid crowding.
